Newcomers’ Club is not just for newcomers! It is for all Sonoma County residents wanting to enhance their lives with new friends and interests. We provide the opportunity to meet other like-minded residents to socialize, have fun, and explore numerous activities.
Our diverse program of Special Interest Groups encourages members to learn about Santa Rosa and Sonoma County, its culture and lifestyle, and to develop new friendships. Some of the many things we enjoy include bridge, mahjong, book clubs, movies, dining out, visiting wineries, hiking, bocce ball, and more!
Join us at our monthly luncheon (2nd Tuesday of the month) to check us out and enjoy our current program. Reservation information & menu selections are available on the Luncheon Meetings page.
We are excited to have two speakers this month – Laurie Jacobson, a celebrated Hollywood author and reformed stand-up comic. While performing improv, she immersed herself in the history of those who came before her, which became the basis for her book, Hollywood Heartbreak, a 75-year history of Hollywood told through the lives and deaths of 31 people. Since then, Laurie has written and produced documentaries, television series and specials, and for nine years served as head of development for legendary producer Jack Haley, Jr. Laurie appears regularly on radio and television.
Jon Provost is a national treasure. The check shirt and jeans he wore for seven years as Timmy on Lassie hang in The Smithsonian next to Archie Bunker’s chair. Lassie continues to air in 50 countries and Jon still receives letters and email from fans of all ages around the world. During his career as a child actor and teen heartthrob, he worked with some of Hollywood’s biggest film stars and by the time he turned 19, he’d worked in show biz 16 years. He left the only life he’d known for college in Northern California, eventually settling to raise a family in Sonoma County. In 2007, Jon celebrated his 50th anniversary as Timmy with the release of his
autobiography, Timmy’s in the Well which he wrote with his wife Laurie Jacobson. As always, guests invited!
